history
☄ Short version: Medieval Scottish Dude of Note discovers stone gargoyles come to life at night. Makes an ally of one such creature; enters into a magical pact, fueled by three faeries, that binds his fate to hers. Trades his youth for an immortal existence wherein he can only be killed by the female gargoyle, and vice versa. Which becomes a bit of an issue once they decide they're no longer allies but sworn enemies. Travels through the centuries, pals around with the Bard (evincing a surprising lack of bitterness about the guy's creative liberties), and hunts the she-demon whose death will result in his own.

basics
☄ Generally appears to be a mortal man, hale though of late years. But he is under a spell – certainly a curse, in his mind – of immortality that links him to a female gargoyle named Demona. Having sacrificed his youth as part of this supernatural pact (at the spell's onset he was in his thirties), he still shares the gargoyle's vitality. He can disguise this fact when it suits him, even exaggerating his apparent age to the point where he seems a bookishly innocuous older man. But when he drops all pretense, his strength is obvious; the silver-white hair is the only truly infirm thing about him.
☄ Macbeth is certainly stronger and faster than the average person, since in canon he holds his own in toe-to-toe combat against multiple gargoyles. But he's not defined as possessing superhuman powers, other than the fact that he cannot be killed by any disease, force or being besides Demona. His status as an exceptionally dangerous opponent probably has more to do with his having had long centuries to develop his physical prowess, hone his fighting skills and acquire tech-enhanced weaponry. And he has spent all those centuries hunting the creature with whom he shares a magical bond.
☄ He was the historical King of Scotland for a time, but his involvement with gargoyles and the subsequent curse left him no choice but to fake his death in the year 1057. Since then he has traveled extensively, committed himself to various scholarly studies, and amassed a great deal of wealth – all the while pursuing the destruction of Demona, and by necessity his own true demise.

☄ Backtagging: Absolutely, this what I live by. Personally nothing is too old as long as there's interest. Also see other notes below.
☄ Fourthwalling: He's well aware of Shakespeare's version of his life, so referencing any of that is all good. If you want to tell him he's a pretend dude based on the animated Disney's Gargoyles, and you're not Deadpool, let's talk first!
☄ Threadhopping: If it's not obviously meant to be closed, sure.
☄ Other notes: I've only tossed Macbeth around on a few memes so far, and I'm a slow, scattered player in general. My apologies for any dropped threads! Please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to continue, or try something different. I recently rewatched Gargoyles and trying this guy in more involved scenes is on my to-do list.
Equally happy to tag cross-canon as with any canonmates out there. Also more than willing to adapt the show's lore to other canons and genres.
Wip; if you're wondering about something not currently listed, just ask!
